JOB TITLE: Physician Assistant Orthopaedic
LOCATION: GLH Lewistown, PA
WORK SCHEDULE: Rotation
WORK TYPE: Full Time
To assist with patient care and management under the responsibility and supervision of the surgeon. To perform diagnostic and therapeutic tasks to allow the physician to extend his/her services. Assists in gathering the data necessary in implementing the diagnosis and, thereby, the therapeutic plan of the surgeon.
A major role will be as patient advocate in the medical care system, serving as confidant, advisor, and liaison between patients and physicians.
Reports directly to the surgeon for all patient-care-related functions.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Must be a graduate of an ARC approved physician assistant program, eligible for the NCCPA and eligible or licensed by the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine. Degree of professional training to qualify as a physician assistant both professionally and legally to perform all services indicated by the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine and licensure as described in the policy and procedure manual for utilization of physician assistant practitioners within the Geisinger system required.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work is typically performed in a clinical environment.

GEISINGER LEWISTOWN HOSPITAL: Is a 123-bed acute care community Hospital serving the 80,000 residents of Mifflin and Juniata counties and members of the cotiguious counties of Centre, Perry, Snyder and Huntingdon.
