The Ambulator y Care Lead RN is a role developed to work in coordinationwith the nursi ng leadership in an assigned clinic/practice to ensure thework is accomp lished effectively. The Ambulatory Care Lead RN is thefirst line support for staff, physicians and other related providers onservice- specific c linical issues. The Ambulatory Care Lead RN isgenerally a long-term role , requiring clinical and interpersonal skills.The Ambulatory Care Lead R N collaborates with the manager on clinicaland non-clinical issues (empl oyee relations, individual behaviors,physician relationships, etc.). The Ambulatory Care Lead RN is thesupport for the clinic/practice when the manager is unavailable. TheClinical Team Leader is responsible for super vising, directing, coachingand mentoring theirassigned core group of st aff. Work PerformedDuties and responsibilities inclu de all those required of the ACN III aswell as:Plan and coordinate clini cal requirements for staff and ensure that allCBO and CBE requirements f or staff are current.Plan and assist with coordination of staff schedule s and submit formanager approval.Coordinate clinical requirements with s taff regarding equipment andsupplies.Consult with preceptors and oriente es on a regular basis to providesupport and determine how orientation sh ould proceed on an individualbasis.Collaborate with the manager for issue resolutions and projects toimprove work flow processes throughout the department utilizing aproactive approach.Collaborate with different depa rtments (pharmacy, radiology, lab,registration) to resolve issues and im prove work flow processesthroughout the department.Collaborate with the nurse managers in the interview process for newapplicants.Mentor/coach s taff to enhance their professional development.Assesses the performance of assigned new hires and orientees includingentry level nurses, nursing care assistants and health unitcoordinators; provides ongoing feedback and coaching.Understand and communicate potential clinical equipment or supply issuesto appropriate team members.Mentor and monitor the precepto rs for all new employees.Provide clinical/education updates and skill ch eck-offs to entire staffon a regular basis.Provides immediate support an d education on policy, procedures,equipment and supplies.Responsible for learning, implementing and teaching newtechnology/procedures.Demonstrat es awareness of current problems and basic plan for allpatients within a ssigned area.Provides clinical consultation and guidance as needed to fa cilitatepatient care.Gives assistance and/or direction to staff to facil itate quality patientflow.Assess staffing needs according to workload an d staff competency; Re-assigns and adjusts staffing based upon patient c are needs.Delegates responsibilities within the scope of practice and va lidatedcompetencies in order to meet the workload demands of the shift.F acilitates assignments that support learning for the orientee or nursele arner.Promotes an atmosphere of open communication that facilitates staf finput into decision-making, resolution of conflict, and collegialityamo ng all health team members.Communicatesin an effective, professional ma nner.Facilitates staff performance audits related to attitude, teamperfo rmance, The Joint Commission, DFS Standards and SCIP initiatives.Reviews and comments on forwarded SRSs related to their team.Facilitates and en courages staff participation in departmental andentity committee and cou ncil meetings.Attends departmental and entity committee meetings as assi gned.Coordinates, facilitates, participates and directs departmental pro jectswith follow-through and appropriate follow-up.Other projects and du ties as directed by the department managers. Incumbents in this job classification effective on or before 10/01/2015 who currently hold an Associate's Degree in Nursing or a Nursing Diploma may remain in this classification under a "grandfathered" status. Transferring to another job classification will require that all minimum qualifications of that job be met and will result in a loss of grandfathering status for this classification. ExperienceRequires three years of nursing experience. appointment In addition to the education and experience described above, incumbents must meet all requirements set forth by the Clinical Ladder Committee in Nursing for Clinical Nurse/Ambulatory Care Nurse III within one year of Degrees, Licensures, CertificationsMust have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
