Perform a variety of nonpr ofessional nursing duties in the direct careof patients under the direct supervision of an RN/LPN.
Prepare pat ients, equipment and supplies for specific procedures andprovide manual assistance as required.Obtain and record patient data for medical record s noting and informingRN/LPN of information collected.Administer treatme nt and personal care procedures to patients including,but not limited to, feeding, bathing, shaving, changing clothing,cleaning and trimming fin gernails, bed-making,assisting withambulation, enemas, skin care, and bo wel and bladder elimination;provide such additional care as required to meet the personal needs andcomfort of assigned patients.Participate in t eaching activities byreinforcing teaching instructed byRN and/or physici an as needed.Assistphysician and nurses with physical examinations by he lpingposition patients, changing non-sterile dressing and weighing patients.Take and recordvital signs, record I&O, apply ice bags, administ erdouches and enemas.Note and report any changes in patient's condition. Turn and position patients, set up and feed patients as necessary,provid e patients with freshdrinking water.Perform fingersticks for blood gluco se testing, with appropriatetraining.Assist with admission, discharge, a nd transportation ofpatients.Follow standard precautions and use persona l protective equipment asrequired.Collect, deliver and conduct routine t ests on patient specimens.Clean assigned area; stock and replenish suppl ies and equipment asrequired.Participate in own professional development by maintaining requiredskills validation and attending educational offe rings. Completion of Level I Nurse Aide education program approved by the Nursing. North Carolina Board of Nursing or successful completion of the NC - approved Nurse Aide I competency test and completion of Level II Nurse Aide education programs approved by the North Carolina Board of High School diploma or equivalent required.
Degrees, Licensures, Certifications
Listed as NA I with the Division of Facility Services with no substantiated findings of abuse, fraud, neglect or misappropriation of property. Listed as NA II with the North Carolina Board of Nursing. BCLS certification must be maintained/completed by the end of new hire orientation, which typically takes place during the first week of employment.
