As a specialist in Food and Nutrition, our diverse community will depend on you to guide them towards better eating habits. 

Under the supervision of the Clinical Nutrition Manager, you’ll plan dietetic treatment programs to provide normal or therapeutic nutritional care, education, and counseling in accordance with current and evidence-based established procedures and regulatory requirements, to our hospitalized or ambulatory patients. Primarily, you’ll:

• Screen, review and assess patients to determine nutritional risk, level of care and educational needs
• Implement and coordinate all aspects of nutrition care including modified diet or feeding calculations, establishment, and implementation of procedures for menu planning, nourishment or feeding delivery and arrangements for services with funded nutrition programs
• Plan, implement and evaluate individual and group nutrition education programs for patients, families, and community members
• Monitor and evaluate effectiveness and acceptability of nutrition care plan in achieving goals and in gaining patient satisfaction
• Communicate pertinent information and discuss individual nutrition care needs of patients with health team members; and educate health team on nutrition related topics
• Participate in new hire orientation, continuing education programs, nutrition research studies, in-service trainings and meetings, rounds and conferences and quality assurance monitoring/reporting activities

Our ideal candidate has:

• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university or foreign equivalent; Master’s degree required by 2024
• At least 1 year of clinical experience as a Registered Dietitian (RD)
• Completed of an ACEND accredited/approved Supervised Practice Program in Dietetics
• New York State Certified Dietitian/Nutritionist (CDN) license; if not certified, must obtain certification within 6 months of your hire date
• Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
• Board certification for assignments in specialty areas including Nutrition Support, Renal, Pediatrics, Geriatrics, Oncology – Highly Preferred
• Knowledge of the Nutrition Care Process and ability to apply all steps of the process
• The ability to counsel and educate others and perform a Nutrition Focused Physical Exam
• Comprehensive knowledge and application of nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy
• Critical thinking to integrate facts, informed opinions, active listening, and observations
• General knowledge of nutrient analysis, word processing and spreadsheet software
