This position is for a Nurse Manager in the Ambulatory Care Department at the Fayetteville VA Medical Center. RN Salary Range: Candidate's education and length of nursing practice (experience) will be considered by a Nurse Professional Standards Board in determining the grade and salary of the applicant selected. The recommended salary may be at any point in the range listed for this vacancy. Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Providing leadership in the day-to-day operations and input as an influencer in the strategic planning process for the attainment of organizational goals. Assuming responsibility for staffing and scheduling of permanent and supplemental nursing staff, ensuring all assignments reflect appropriate utilization, compliance with staffing guidelines, and Joint Commission Standards. Accountability for the safe implementation of practice and performance guidelines including staff's adherence to established department safety policies and operating procedures, and those mandated by central directives and regulating bodies. Evaluating performance of staff and making recommendation for practice and performance improvement. Giving, advising, counseling, or instructing personnel on work and administrative matters. Assuming leadership and responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient transition through the continuum of care, patient and family education, patient self-management after discharge, and supporting factors that impact customer satisfaction. Ensuring staffing meets established nursing hours per patient day requirements and works with other Nurse Managers to identify and share resources.
